Tyre rubbing

Splitty66

Hi everyone! Just wondered if anyone has some ideas for my 1966 splitty. When I have people in the back- I use it for wedding transport 😬 with wrap around seating, the wheels at the front rub against the wheelarch when going over any bumps on the road, sometimes with the smell of rubber!! The mechanic said he can't raise it as there's no way of doing this. I think a non adjustable beam was put in some time. He mentioned lower profile tyres or bump stops but I was thinking some shock absorbers? Does anyone else have this issue? Thanks in advance 😊20240425_153536.jpg

Your options are (in rough order of expense):
1 - Lower profile tyres - will increase clearance at the top but the bus will also sit closer to the road, may mean you end up hitting your steering box (more often)
2 - Adjustable beam - replace your beam with an adjustable one so you can raise the height
3 - Tubbing the front arches - will most likely mean your front seat needs modifying too

Stiffer shocks may help but I'm not sure
