Again I called Skytag.
100% of all vehicles stolen with a Skytag tracker have been recovered.
Not 95% or near. But 100%.
Some claim that.

Can you install skytag yourself? Or do you have to get it installed?

Self install I would imagine as its only a few wires.

I put my skytag in myself, just a bit of basic wiring knowledge and you`re away.

Yep, put my Skytag in, free from Volksword, manned it up, and they even gave me a zone from the house to the unit 500 metres away, so if it goes from one to the other its clear. And they give you 30 day functioning updates to let you know everything is working.
Only thing I might talk to them about is once you've gone your on your own, so that maybe an upgrade issue if travelling abroad

I don't agree with the use of mobile phones as van GPS trackers, it has some security risks. For example, in the summer, the cell phone battery may explode. Moreover, mobile phones are larger than ordinary GPS trackers (especially hidden GPS), and thieves can easily find them and discard them at the roadside. I recommend hidden GPS, such as SpyTec.dave409787 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2013 5:47 pm Not a huge amount of crime where i am, but i'm thinking for trips away about tucking an old iphone away under the R&R bed, wired to the leisure battery, and simply using the find my iphone app to track where the van is.
Obviously not cost effective to buy a new phone, but with a old worthless one laying about i can't see much harm?

I wonder if that statistic is still the same. If so, it's impressive.

Have you had much communication from Tracker over the past 7 years.Sjtw wrote: ↑Tue Oct 23, 2012 8:21 am Well I've had Tracker Monitor fitted along with an immobiliser.
It's the VHF + motion sensor one, so if the bus is moving without the immobiliser being deactivated (ie it's been nicked an its on a truck) you're alerted by Tracker.
Fitted by Steve at Road Radio, really good, came from Crawley to Hertfordshire to do it. £150 for the tracker (which is the cheapest I've found) and 150 for the immobiliser.
(Tracker subs on top of that).
And now I'm sleeping a little better.

A gsm GPS tracker you text it and it sends you back its location etc
Not bad for 35 quid, ill let you know how we'll it works when I get it.
Might stick them in the kids to test
I called them recently as I'd never had a low internal battery warning / main battery disconnect warning etc in the time it was fitted. All they were interested in was selling me a new unit. Oh, and they now don't do life membership.

Just thought I'd share an update I received today from Tracker showing the statistics for September - makes for some interesting reading and makes me feel even safer for having one fitted![]()

Re: For the attention of anyone with a Tracker....
any recommendations for purchasing a new tracker? which one to choose? Maybe you've tried or heard about https://monimoto.com/uk/ ?
Re: For the attention of anyone with a Tracker....
I have not read all of this thread but my only comment about Skytag is that it does run the battery down when vehicle not in use, I now have a charger to keep the battery topped up when van not being used.
