Top end rebuild

Post by Terry »

My son/s have taken engine out of Rosie for overhaul as low compression on cyl no. 4. Slight damage on piston head so going to replace barrels and pistons now while they have the time and as a precaution. However no one seems to have the parts in stock for a 1500cc engine. Guidance please.
Thank you
Terry

if you have damage to the top of a piston then it sounds like you may have valve problems on that head, are all the valves coming back fully up on that cylinder. is one sticking and possibly bent. This may be your problem.

I put 1600 B+P’s in my 1500 single port, they drop straight in, a great upgrade which made one of the best engines I've had.

That has been suggested, although if we can get hold of 1500 then would prefer that route. Thanks

Unfortunately Machine 7 let me know this morning the parts are on back order and they don't know when they will be available. Any other ideas, please

Thanks Huw,
Unfortunately 1500 barrels and pistons are not available for the foreseeable so we have gone for 1600's. Work is now progressing :)
