Re: Help. Just changed Gear Rod Coupler, noisy transmission?

Outcome from my coupling issues. I just removed the old coupler. It has the remains of the part number still on it. If i was a betting man i'd say it was the original. (because of the state of the bus) I replaced it with a NOS 111711175A part and all is good! I spoke to the supplier of the WW versio...

Re: Auto Wares convex mirror?

Hi Jimbo!

I just got one of these.

I agree with everything you said. I just got one to compare to my flat4 and like you say its a small price to pay for decent vision.

Re: Help. Just changed Gear Rod Coupler, noisy transmission?

On the bus is the "sandwich kind" I'll check if it has a part number on when I take it back off. This is from the samba: The two kinds are interchangable, and you can install either. Quality depends on the batch that particular one is made in. Quality can vary. For split case tranny buses, I prefer ...

Re: Help. Just changed Gear Rod Coupler, noisy transmission?

Thanks a lot Andy. My packet is also in Brazilian but its sold as WW, who knows about that. I've changed or checked the other bushes. Apart from the rear shuttle cock as the transmission has to come out to get to it. I actually took the front shuttle cock off and put it back on because it looked bet...

Re: Help. Just changed Gear Rod Coupler, noisy transmission?

Thanks for the reply Andy. I've just done all the fluid. So I know that's all tip top. I don't see how the WW coupler has any flex at all! The OG coupler has a rubber section all the way around and the WW version has a metal section connecting the two half's. I'm sure the rubber is somewhere inside ...

Re: Help. Just changed Gear Rod Coupler, noisy transmission?

Just put the old coupler back on. Silent again. . Well i'm happy but ...... at the same time. The WW one defiantly has no flex and it obviously need some. The gear shift is ok really. Shame ive just wasted money on bushes and its made no difference. From what i've read people have a hard time cuttin...

Re: Help. Just changed Gear Rod Coupler, noisy transmission?

Just been under the van and undone everything. It all looks lovey and snug. The bushes seem to be doing the right thing. The shuttle cocks bushes are not the best but there doing the best they can. The only big difference to how it was before is the WW rear coupling has nearly zero flex?

Re: Help. Just changed Gear Rod Coupler, noisy transmission?

Thanks Jim

I'll have a look. I checked the front shuttle cock and it looked better quality to the one I was going to put on so left it. You cant do the rear one without removing the box right? I'll have a little move about on the shaft see if there is any play.

Thanks for the reply!

Help. Just changed Gear Rod Coupler, noisy transmission?

I had no noise, then I changed the rear rod coupler and the front bush under the gear stick, it now shifts nice and smooth but I've got an awful noise coming from "I think" the transmission? Any advice? My first thought is change it back see if it goes away, I don't understand what's caused it? Peter

Re: GAZ Adjustable Shocks / OG Shocks

Cheers.

I've gone and ordered some Gaz adjustables now. My fronts seem fine so can see how they compare.

I'll let you know if anyone is interested.

GAZ Adjustable Shocks / OG Shocks

I think i'm still on the OG shocks, they are blue with VW logo on? I've just noticed one of my back ones is leaking. So i need to change the back set at least. I'm tempted with the GAZ Adjustable Shocks as they will make them to measure and my bus is very bouncy at speed over bumps. My questions are...

SO42 westy pop-top seal?

Has anybody got any recommendations for the best seal? I cant find a seal that looks the same as the original, they all seem to have a round bottom instead of a lip. The closest i can find is the just kampers one, alto its not identical. Has anyone got any first hand experience? recommendations, for...
