Re: Pre heat pipe thingy!

Does the end of the pipe butt up against the cylinder head? It’s not that obvious from the photo. Kind of, but like the one in the ebay link above, the end is cut at an angle so while the tube points toward the heads, the opening is directed toward the barrels. You'll need the little tins that atta...

Re: Pre heat pipe thingy!

If you mean the little pipe that goes under the rear valance tin; I've only ever seen them for sale on ebay.com (US ebay). I contacted the seller and he said he'd ship to the UK, but it worked out cheaper to make my own with some stainless pipe bolted to some perforated steel strip as a bracket.

Who flycuts heads?

Hi, who flycuts VW heads? Ideally in the South East, West Sussex would be great. Need to tripple-check my figures, but I think I'm going to need to get my new heads cut to reduce the chamber volume to get a decent compression ratio. At the moment, they're 54.75cc and, shimming the barrels to get 1mm...

Micks wasn't what I was looking for, so I'm still looking if anyone has a junk Bosch/VW regulator.

Thanks

Junk voltage regulator

Looking to hide some modern relays and I wondered whether they'd fit inside a gutted-out voltage regulator that wouldn't look out of place in the engine bay. Anyone got a junk VW/Bosch regulator that they want rid of? Don't care what voltage because it'll be gutted. The bigger the better size-wise t...

Re: Diagram for fitting a duel circuit master cylinder

There is a T piece in the middle and the rear very confusing Is it best to remove it ? As left hand rear front go to the rear of the master and the large long one to the front ? This description from the VW Heritage page might help?... For upto 1966 and 1967 euro spec non servo brakes with a dual m...

Re: spare tyre behind front seats?

What year bus?

I have a 185 R15 tyre behind the bench seat in my 56 truck and it fits. Think it's a 185/65R15. It's the last of the (undersized) tyres that came with my truck. I kept it when I replaced the other tyres because it fitted behind the seat.

Re: Late heat exchangers to early pods.....

Perfect! That is exactly what I was thinking. Do you then use 50mm internal diameter polylock flexi exhaust to join to the pod? Cheers for the link! Russ My truck is a '56 and came with the original steel spiral flexi tube that has a 50mm ID. I line that up with the outlet from the adapter as I sli...

Re: Late heat exchangers to early pods.....

I found a company on ebay that makes exhaust parts and got them to make me adaptors. The specification I gave them was... 60mm inside diameter to 50mm outside diameter, with the wide ends 25mm long and the narrow ends 50mm long, I used this seller on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/everyexhaustpart ...

Thanks. It looks like the first estimate was on the high side, so it should be worth treking round a few places to see if I can get a better price.

Powder Coat cost?

I've posted this on the Facebook feed too, but some folks aren't on FB, so... What's the going rate for powdercoating tinware? I've been given a guideline average price of £10 per piece by a local company to blast and coat. I reckon there are 20-odd pieces of tinware and I'm thinking of getting the ...
