Re: Fishing in the fuel tank

Anyone know if I can safely stick a camera in the tank? Try attaching a mirror to a stick and shining a torch down the filler neck first to see if you can see it? I reckon it'd be fine in there for months, but I'd worry that it'll start to break down over time like fuel lines do, or that bits will ...

A guy on the Volkswagen Split Trucks group on Facebook was asking for info on the seat belt mounts. I've pointed him to your posts here. Hope that's OK?

Cheers

Re: Lower arm & anti roll bar fitment

The lower arm wasn't designed for an anti-roll bar, but it will work. You'll need to bend the end clamp a little and it'll obstruct the link pin somewhat, but it does work. This is how I had to fit the clamp on my '56. From Googling, the lower arm is the same from February 1955 up to some time in Ju...

Re: Pre heat pipe thingy!

Yes, those will work. The pointy one is the one that goes on the left. It's pointy to give room for the pipe. The more rectangular one goes on the right. I used the earlier style where both the right and left are basically rectangular, but the left hand one has a hole for the pipe. Either style shou...

Re: Battery charger

Can't see why not. What size is your battery? It says it'll do up to a 120mA battery. My MXS 5.0 says it'll do a 110mA battery and copes fine.

Re: Battery charger

I use the CTEK MXS 5.0. I bought the 'comfort connect' lead and extension lead as well as a wall bracket. It works great. The comfort connect lead stays connected to the battery terminals and has a waterproof plug on it. I like the idea of their magnetic induction charging plugs but they're too expe...

Nice. I'm guessing from the comments in the earlier posts that it was in a state before? Can you repost any of those pics? All the links are broken.

Is this the same guy referenced in this Facebook post? Can't link directly to it because it's a closed group, but it's on the to Vintage VW Accessories, Toys and Memorabilia group. Several follow-up posters said they've been scammed by the guy in the last couple of years... Annotation 2020-02-23 183...

Re: Pre heat pipe thingy!

Does the end of the pipe butt up against the cylinder head? It’s not that obvious from the photo. Kind of, but like the one in the ebay link above, the end is cut at an angle so while the tube points toward the heads, the opening is directed toward the barrels. You'll need the little tins that atta...

Re: Pre heat pipe thingy!

If you mean the little pipe that goes under the rear valance tin; I've only ever seen them for sale on ebay.com (US ebay). I contacted the seller and he said he'd ship to the UK, but it worked out cheaper to make my own with some stainless pipe bolted to some perforated steel strip as a bracket.

Who flycuts heads?

Hi, who flycuts VW heads? Ideally in the South East, West Sussex would be great. Need to tripple-check my figures, but I think I'm going to need to get my new heads cut to reduce the chamber volume to get a decent compression ratio. At the moment, they're 54.75cc and, shimming the barrels to get 1mm...

Thanks
