Hi! I have had two of these covers and find them very well made and not expensive,got mine off eBay.
( my bug is a 58 with towel rails and roofrack fitted and it fits easy)

That suggests the nut may have been over tightened or not enough grease packed in, the bearing overheats and welds itself together and then to the stub axle, then a combination of intense local heat (which I suspect would effectively heat treat and embrittle ...

Hi all!
Has anyone come across total bearing fail to the point were the wheel come off[emoji33][emoji33]
This happened at 60mph on the M1
( not me my friend)

Hi! You could put an ammeter on the fuse box and measure the current then you know exactly how many amps you are dealing with.
