Hi mate and welcome to the club, Im guessing the heater coil is the choke. Have you set the carb up as per the book. There will be someone on here in your neck of the who can take a look come on guys help needed :wink: :wink:

I thought the headlight switch was the only control over high and low beam, there is no relay on my camper, check out the fuses-

Its purpose is to warm the inlet manifold and help prevent iceing of the carb and inlet track- (Im sure someone can enlarge on this) I wouldn't repair it in the manner you have described, buy an original second hand one, just make sure the pre heat tubes are clear. I bought a new one from a well kno...

My 67 is an early US one. Usual 12volts, etc but has no reversing lights and a pre 67 radio hole and single circuit brakes and yes its a 67 :D

I bought a couple from the ssvc spares, metal with a ruber like seal around the edge. I also ran a small bead of silicon around the outside after fitting, and allowed it to dry before re filling the box with oil- works ok

If you look on ther samba/technical/paint you can identify the correct paint code for the year of your bus.

I would expect thefuse to blow before the cable melted, have you checked the fuse size?

They look good to me- I binned my og mirrors in favour of some larger ones that I could use, dont sacrifice road safety for originality

my camper came from california in a container with no problems, get marine insurance and arrange to have photos taken and if possible an inspection of the goods before they're loaded. My shipping co emailed me a condition report, a bit like an insurance assesser's body check prior to loading,- still...

mine did that then it packed up, I tookit apart cleaned it out and put it back together and its fine just be careful and do it on the kitchen table not in the garage :wink:
