Oil bath air filter

This oil bath is unrecognisable to me, as I am used to 67 vans. It's serial number is 261 128 613A. (I think, my eye sight is not great) I assume it's for a Type 2. It's overall condition is good and clean. However, the flap at the air intake is missing. There are 2 outlets next to the flap, one has...

MOT exemption

MOT exemption I am thinking of applying for MOT exemption However, there are issues that require consideration regarding insurance and breakdown cover. I have contacted my insurance company who say MOT exemption does not affect my insurance. If I chose to be MOT exempt, I would ask for this reassura...

Re: AR engine serial number and timing

Thanks for that link.
The van drives like a 1500/1600. It must be a 1300 upgraded to a 1600.
Anyone know if 7.5 degrees BTDC is correct?

AR engine serial number and timing

I have a 1600 twin port with serial number starting AR.
John Muir's manual does not list this engine code.
I am guessing that the timing is set at 7.5 degrees BTDC.
Does anyone know if this is correct?

Re: Please help me tap into 12v fuse box (for radio & 12v po

Thanks Mark I have also looked into ipad requirements which I think is 2.5 amps. So when purchasing a cigarette lighter/USB adapter you have to ensure that it manages 2.5amps, as not all do. However it does seem that 15 amp fuses are recommended. I'm looking at the socket and ipad charger below. htt...

Re: Fitting a cigarette lighter socket 1966 Splitscreen 12 V

I was in Halfords yesterday trying to sort the same problem, for a Tomtom and Ipad. Halfords did not have what I was looking for. I was thinking of a double socket that can be mounted under the parcel shelf. Any ideas?

Re: 10/40 oil?

Thanks Seablue67. I Know oil has always been a hot potato, (SAE30 etc.) I have read so much on the Internet about this topic, including hundreds of posts on Samba. This is the first time I have seen an explanation of these numbers that grade oils. My engine has a SS exhaust, and quite noisy, so hard...

10/40 oil?

I usually use 15/40 oil.
I have a source of 10/40 oil in bulk.
Can I use 10/40 for a standard 1600 twin port, summer use only?

Re: MAINS HOOK-UP INLET

I've just had the engine out and took the opportunity to install a cable through the bulkhead, one end under the rear seat, the other end coming out in the engine compartment. So a household socket under the rear seat and a camper socket in the engine bay. My question- is this safe? Modern campers h...
